HAND-FIRED IN NIYODOGAWA
Kashi (Japanese evergreen oak) produces some of the densest, longest-burning charcoal in Japan. In the mountains above the Niyodo River — famous for its water clarity rated No.1 in Japan — Sumizumi fires each batch by hand using a traditional kiln method passed down through generations.
THE 30CM CUT
The long 30cm cut has deep roots in Japanese culture. In the tea ceremony, charcoal arrangement (sumitemae) is an art form in itself — each piece is chosen for its shape, sound, and the way it burns. This same cut is prized by high-end robata and yakitori chefs who demand consistent, clean heat.
