Our Story

Niyodogawa Town, a mountainous region in Kochi Prefecture.
This area, home to the Niyodo River, known as "Japan's last clear river," has abundant forest resources and a centuries-old tradition of charcoal making.
However, like many regional cities, the town was facing the challenges of population decline and the decline of the forestry industry.
"I want to preserve this beautiful nature and the wisdom of our ancestors for the next generation."
With this idea in mind, Sumizumi LLC was born.
Representative Eldridge Ami said,
As a bilingual Japanese-English speaker, I have an international perspective, but I have also put down roots in this area.
Inheriting traditional charcoal-making techniques,
We aim to achieve modern sustainability.

It serves as a window to convey Japan's rural culture to the world.
